Telecommunications Week

Every year in the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community are honored. According to the National Public Safety website, this week-long event was initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California.  It is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives for serving the public in this profession. Our local call center also includes a Family Day celebration.  Our dogs are invited to greet all visitors and inform them of our mission.

Tobacco Free Initiative

Coverage was requested and provided, in an effort to support the initiation of a tobacco free campus.  It was believed to be a likely stressful time for some.

Our Birthday Celebration!

We celebrate our birthday, September 6th, during that week.  This commemorates the first visit of our first two teams with canine partners Bridget and Texsi (Kimbrough).

Holiday Coverage

We provide special support during end of year Holiday season as it is recognized as a high stress time of the year for all.

Special Crisis & Disaster Situations

We provide support during crises, for example, during the “Austin Bomber” experience in 2018. Our handlers mobilized to provide more shift coverage than originally scheduled for that time.  As one would expect, there was increased call volume. Upon request, K9’s On Call are available to assist any time there is an increased need.
